Bosmolenplas/ Netherlands PADI Aware Europe Reef Ball Project
The first stop of the Reef Ball tours in the following year was the region of Bosmolenplas. It is no coincidence that the first site beyond Switzerland was in the Netherlands. The Dutch DCs are in general very conscious about environmental issues and eager to get involved. Geert Huyskens, the owner of the DC ?Aegir-Stingray?, was inspired by our presentation at the fair ?Boot? in Düsseldorf/ Germany and recognized particularly the qualities of the concept in case of lifeless areas. Although the gravel pits in the waters of Bosmolenplas were just the place for the concept?s unique possibilities to unfold, the government officials were not easily convinced about the idea. But when the official immersion of the 50 Reef Balls was celebrated joyfully on June 23, the mayor of the community of Heel, Mr. Van Soest, insisted on uncovering and sinking the Reef Balls himself. From there divers of the ?Stingray Diver Society? took over and transported the forms to the actual position. To make sure the ordinary diving activities were not disturbed and a maximum of security was guaranteed, the event had begun in the late afternoon.
Reefball Projekt Bosmolenplas, Holland Als erste Tauchschule außerhalb der Schweiz (bzw. in Europa) hat STINGRAY, die Tauchschule des Holländischen 5-Star Divecenters AEGIR-STINGRAY ein Reefballproject ausgeführt. Nachdem STINGRAY Inhaber Geert Huyskens auf der BOOT ?01 in Düsseldorf den ersten Kontakt mit diesem AWARE-Projekt etablierte, hat er die Möglichkeiten, die dieses Projekt bietet, als vielversprechend angedeutet und eingesehen, dass PADI Europe und Project AWARE hiermit eine einmalige Chance offerieren, um die Unter-wasserwelt in unserem Tauchgewässer ?Bosmolenplas? einigermassen zu bereichern. Nachdem der entgültige Entschluss gefasst war, wurde in Utrecht, während der Duikvaker mit Béatrice Schafroth Natschke von Project AWARE, die ganze Sache weiter ausgeknobelt und die Daten festgesetzt. Danach fing das Ringen um die Bewilligungen an und man muss sagen: Ausdauer braucht der Mensch. Buchstäblich in letzter Minute traf die Bewilligung ein. Die zuständigen Behörden haben eingesehen, dass es wichtig ist, unsere Kiesgruben, die im Grunde nur einen flachen und trostlosen Sandboden aufweisen, neu zu gestalten. Sie waren bei der offiziellen Einwässerung am 23. Juni natürlich eingeladen und Herr van Soest der Bürgermeister von Heel, die Gemeinde, unter welcher der Bosmolenplas resortiert, haben es sich nicht nehmen lassen, um vor versammelter Presse die Reefballs offiziell zu enthüllen und ins Wasser zu bringen. Von da übernahmen Taucher von der STINGRAY DIVER SOCIETY mit Hilfe einer Hebeplattform und einem Zodiac Schlauchboot den Transport zu den vorgesehenen Stellen. Um den normalen Tauchbetrieb im See so wenig wie möglich zu hindern und ein Höchstmass an Sicherheit zu gewähren, wurde mit dem Anlass erst um 16.00 Uhr bei strahlendem Wetter angefangen. Nachdem der letzte der 50 grossen Reefballs im Wasser lag, wurde der Tag mit einer grossen Grillparty für die Mitglieder der STINGRAY DIVER SOCIETY beendet.
