Permits have been difficult to obtain in Washington due to all the issued related to Salmon runs. This is being overcome by Scuba Zone, the Reef Ball Authorized Contractor for Washington. In the summer of 1999 the Sidney Pier Artificial Reef Group lent molds to an individual who built and deployed Reef Balls into Edmonds Underwater Park. The total number and exact location are unknown.
