With mold funding from the Reef Ball Foundation, 100 Reef Balls were deployed about 12 NM from Galveston in 57 feet of water. The numbers recorded may not be accurate due to a GPS recording error.
Phase II of the Moses Lake Shoreline Erosion Control Reef Ball Project

wo reef balls were placed near shore in Moses Lake in October to test the effectiveness of their erosion-controlproperties. One is approximately three feet wide by two feet tall, and the other is about half that size.This project is being conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Texas Genco and the Galveston Bay Foundation.
Reef ball project progresses

he reef ball shoreline erosion project is progressing with the placement of additional reef balls along the Moses Lake
shoreline.On March 5,18 reef balls were deployed with the assistance of personnel from Galveston Bay Foundation
(GBF),NRG Texas,National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)and volunteers.We are currently awaiting more
molds from the manufacturer.When received,they will be used to make more reef balls to enlarge the artificial reef along
the Moses Lake shoreline to protect the marsh.
This project is being conducted in conjunction with the U.S.Fish and Wildlife Service,NRG Texas and the Galveston
Bay Foundation.
