Copied Reef Ball
Steven's towing copied the Reef Ball design in 1995 after Reef Ball trained them to make units for the SC DNR. Unfortunately, they didn't get the copy right....notice al the barnicale and no corals...that's because they don't use the proper cement mixture and the pH is too high. It is compounded by a smooth surface texture which is not ideal for the biology. Well, give them credit at least they are trying.....they are using the vortexed holes which helps with the current flows. They say imitation is the best form of flatery....it's too bad this form of copying is encouraged by government procurement procedures....but perhaps price is more important that purpose?
