Clive Barker Memorial Reef Project
2/2006 "To Keep you up to date on the progress for artificial reefs here at the top of the South Island New Zealand. The attached article has been picked up by several of the national morning papers also I have done two radio interviews on the subject. There has to date been only support for the concept however once the Resource Consent hearing takes place the whole attitude can alter. We have also just recently obtained the permit to harvest the highly invasive Undaria seaweed from mussel farms. This now hopefully gives us the funds to establish the original artificial reef I planed to be used by the newly created Aquaculture Course at the Queen Charlotte Collage in Picton. Part of this course entails obtaining diving certificates plus I firmly belive we have to get the young ones trained up with the knowledge to make the changes for the future. The other reef for Eco-Burials would be in Kenepuru Sound if resource is obtained .The school project would be in the Queen Charlotte Sound. Kind Regards, Clive Barker.
