Playa Uvas Reef Ball Snorkeling Trail & Sea Fan Rehabilitation Project
Many of the near shore snorkeling areas within the National Marine Park have been affected by Hurricane Wilma. This has concentrated snorkeling to just a few areas. This is putting a lot of pressure on these systems as they recover. Therefore, the Marine Park has adopted a strategy to develop some snorkeling trails with Reef Balls for the purpose of providing tourists with additional snorkeling areas allowing the sensitive natural reefs to recover. Playa Uvas has offered to provide some seed funding for this effort and it is hoped the size of the trail will be increased with additional funding.
