NOAA Video About Oculina Reef Ball Project
In the late summer of 2000, scientists deployed one hundred five reef balls at three sites on Oculina Banks to determine if the artificial structures could help to re-establish fish habitat that was once provided by Oculina coral heads. A year later, during the Islands in the Stream, South Atlantic Bight Expedition, scientists are encouraged to see fish beginning to aggregate near them.
