Funding for this reef was provided by Jerry Barber, son of Earl Barber and Father of the Reef Ball Foundation's Chairman, Todd Barber. Earl Barber lived much of his life in Tampa, Florida and was an avid fisherman and sportsman.
Reef Ball attended the Florida Artificial Reef Summit 2001 on
October 17 -20, 2001 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
From March to June 2003, there was an IMAX/Coral Reefs exhibit in the Ft. Lauderdale museum of science and it will feature a full sized (foam model) Reef Ball.
Gary Gam reports on Feb 2006 the exhibit is still up and he is going to offer to build them a full sized Reef Ball for the aquarium.
